Botox® & Anti Wrinkle Injectables
Rotorua
Botox® and anti wrinkle injectables are a procedure used to treat or prolong the onset of wrinkle. They are most often used to treat the wrinkles or deep persistent lines of the forehead, between the eyes (frown) and around the eyes (crow’s feet) to reduce the muscle movement. Once the movement becomes relaxed, the skin is prevented from bunching and thus the lines come to soften.
One ten minute treatment, a few tiny injections and you are on your way to relaxing the muscles that cause those lines to form and keep them relaxed for up to 4 months.
Areas that can be treated with Botox -
Frown lines, Crows Feet, Forehead, Lips & Bunny-lines
Gummy Smiles & Downturned Mouths
Chin, Masseters, Neck Bands.
Medically for migraine sufferers & partial facial paralysis
Hyperhydrosis (excessive sweating).
Deep static wrinkles will not necessarily respond to Botox or anti wrinkle injectables - but in some cases injectable dermal fillers can be used to improve the appearance and create a softer look.
Many people combine Botox® with other cosmetic treatments, such as dermal fillers (which create volume under the skin, plumping out wrinkles or loss of volume) or skin treatments that help skin texture.

Why Freya ?
Botox® is a tool, like hair colour, and your results depend on practitioner assessment in order to prescribe a dosage specific to your face. Known for her light hands and natural looking results, Freya is one of the Bay of Plenty's most trusted and experienced non surgical facial aestheticians. Freya believes the secret to a good, natural-looking treatment is not to eradicate all movement and lines, and that the key to good-looking Botox® is as much about respecting your face's natural beauty and providing subtle correction to simply portray a fresher version of oneself.
About Botox®& Anti Wrinkle Injectables.
Botox is the original and best-known brand name and the most tested product on the market.
There are 3 main brands of Botulinum Toxin Type A in New Zealand; Botox® – the American brand, Dysport® – the European brand and Xeomin® – the German brand. Currently Freya offers Botox® or Xeomin® depending on the needs of each client.
These work by blocking signals from the nerves to the muscles. The injected muscle can no longer contract or bend the skin, which therefore, causes the wrinkles to relax and soften.
During consultation with Freya, you will learn which areas of the face she can safely treat and how you can expect that area to respond. She offers complimentary follow-up appointments two weeks after to assess your response and better manage you going forward.
*DISCLAIMER Patient experience and results may vary. These are dependent on a number of factors such as lifestyle, age and medical history.

Common Mistakes People Make Re Botox® and Dermal Fillers
It’s important to be aware that Botox® and dermal fillers are not the same thing. Botox® is a toxin that is injected into various parts of your face, which effectively then paralyses your facial muscles in that area. This paralysis reduces the appearance of fine lines or wrinkles. Botox® facial injections have little effect on deeper wrinkles, which is where dermal fillers come in.
The bacteria cultivated for botulinum toxin and Botox® is derived from its purified form. This toxin freezes muscles by blocking or interrupting nerve signals, creating temporary paralysis. This paralysis results in softer looking skin. Injections usually last up to four months, and you will then need to have the procedure repeated.
Dermal fillers are different from Botox® in that they are designed to be injected beneath the skin to create volume and leave the area looking fuller – usually your lips, mouth or cheeks.
The contents of dermal fillers vary depending on which area of your face they will be used, and this also determines how long the fillers will last. It can vary from six months up to two years.
While Botox® and dermal fillers are both less invasive than cosmetic surgery, you’ll notice that their similarities end here.
RELATED SERVICES WE PROVIDE TO BOTOX® AND THE DERMAL FILLER
In addition to our Botox® and dermal filler treatments, you can also select from one of the following:
Our cosmetic lip injections can be used to help create fuller-looking lips. As you get older, your lips naturally get thinner, so this injection could also be used as a temporary rejuvenation tool.
We offer a range of chemical peels which we classify according to strength. These peels break down the elements binding the top layer of your skin, ridding it of the dead skin cells. Your underlying layer of fresh skin is revealed in the process. You can make use of the variety of peels we offer to address concerns you may have, including skin lightening and combating the signs of ageing.
Derma-planing has made a name for itself in the aesthetics in recent years, and we are excited to offer this treatment to you. We use a specially designed blade to remove the very fine hair and dead skin cells. This process reveals younger skin as well as stimulating the production of new skin cells.
